The Mario franchise is one of Nintendo's first game series. It contains many different genres of games including platforming, racing, party, and sports games. It was created in 1981 with the arcade game Donkey Kong. The latest installment in the franchise is Super Mario Odyssey, released for the Nintendo Switch on October 27th, 2017.

Super Smash Bros. series[]

The Super Smash Bros. series' first wave released with two Mario related amiibo alongside the rest of Wave 1, being Mario and Peach, with the rest of the Mario characters in Super Smash Bros. released afterward Mario and others.

Super Mario series[]

The Super Mario series of amiibo consists of the first wave, being released to promote Mario Party 10, the second wave, released to promote Mario Party: Star Rush, and a third wave to promote Mario and Luigi: Superstar Saga + Bowser's Minions.

Super Mario Bros. 30th Anniversary series[]

These two amiibo released alongside Super Mario Maker as a celebration of Mario's 30th anniversary.

Skylanders: SuperChargers series[]

These amiibo were released alongside Nintendo console versions of Skylanders: SuperChargers, and can be used either as characters in the game, or as amiibo.

Mario Sports Superstars series[]

Card packs were released for use in Mario Sports Superstars, and contained Mario and pals in 5 sports, being golf, soccer, baseball, tennis and horse racing, the 5 sports that the game features. They do not function character-specifically, meaning a Mario card cannot work on other titles as a Mario amiibo.

Super Mario Odyssey series[]

These amiibo were released primarily for use with Super Mario Odyssey. Interestingly enough, a "delicious" amiibo was made for boxes of Super Mario Cereal that could be used in Super Mario Odyssey.
